One Line Review | - | "And In Between, We'll Always Have The Hours." |
Review - I went into this movie knowing almost nothing about it and I was rewarded for my lack of knowledge. I'll attempt to keep you all in the same boat. Suffices to say The Hours is a fantastic film. Interweaving three stories from 4 different time frames in a meticulous and intensifying fashion. The editing is superb. The score, a quiet building force. And the acting, impeccable.
I can't say what you'll take away from The Hours. I sat in the theater with a note pad and found myself writing more quotes from the film than notes about it's production. It's a significantly moving film. It's subject matter may uncomfort some viewers but it's quite powerful and ultimately positive.
The Hours is also quite challenging. It's interwoven stories leave some facets for you to piece together. This has been a downfall for many films in the past but it solidifies the aura of introspection The Hours sets to create. Its been a long time since a movie has created this much movement within me for film, literature, and life alike. On that note and the quotes that follow, I think I'll take my bow.
